Born in Parklands Nairobi, Dale spent a significant portion of his childhood in Siaya where he discovered his love for painting at thirteen years old. His journey began with sketches, before trying his mums oil paints on wood.

He would soon experiment with any materials he could access, despite passion and a tonne of ideas, getting materials was not an easy feat at the onset.

Dale sold his first paintings, portraits of Raila Odinga, Mwai Kibaki and Sammy Weya to Raila Odinga in 2002. More than a decade later his visual art is enriched by physics, philosophy and history. Bringing an Afrocentric twist to unique perspectives, with impactful results.

Work brought him back to the capital city Nairobi, where he traversed the theatre industry as stage manager and eventually got an eye for set design and construction.

Theatre lead him to work on contracts both locally and abroad such as a performance installation titled, EAT ME at the Danish Cultural Festival in Copenhagen, under the Danish Centre for Culture and Development (DCCD) in 2010. He also created major sets For UNICE Telethone shows at the KIE institute in Nairobi.

He designed his first film set in 2014, the ‘Churchill live show’ for NTV. This was a major steppingstone to working and designing sets and props across the industry under different production and media houses as an independent Art Director and Set Designer.

Dales works are thought-provoking, viscerally evocative and timeless.
